Manual starters are devices that are operated manually. These starters are extremely easy and straightforward to operate and do not require expert intervention. The starter includes a button (or rotary knob) which enables a user to turn the connected equipment on or off.
Note: Manual starters do not break control circuits during power loss, which means motors could restart automatically when power is restored. This may require additional safety considerations in some applications.
When the engine is activated (via stop/start button or traditional key), an electrical signal is sent to the starter solenoid. This component transmits power from the vehicle's battery to the starter motor.
The electrical current activates the starter motor and engages the starter drive (Bendix gear system) with the vehicle's flywheel. As the starter motor turns, it cranks the engine to initiate the combustion process in both petrol and diesel vehicles.
Once the engine is running, the mechanism disengages the starter motor from the gear and flywheel as the engine no longer requires the electrical spark to maintain operation.
