Manual Starters Overview

Manual starters are simple, user-friendly devices operated manually without requiring expert intervention. They feature a button or rotary knob that controls the connected equipment through mechanical linkages that open or close contacts to start or stop the motor.

Starter Motor Operation

When the engine is activated (via start button or key), an electrical signal is sent to the starter solenoid. This component directs power from the battery to the starter motor, which engages the starter drive (Bendix gear system) with the vehicle's flywheel.

The starter motor cranks the engine to initiate combustion in petrol and diesel vehicles. Once the engine is running, the mechanism disengages the starter motor from the flywheel as the engine no longer requires the electrical spark to maintain operation.
