Manual Starters Overview
Manual starters are manually operated devices designed for simple operation without requiring expert intervention. These starters feature a button or rotary knob that allows users to turn connected equipment on or off through mechanical linkages that open or close contacts to start or stop the motor.
Note that manual starters do not break the control circuit during power loss, which means the motor may restart automatically when power is restored - an important safety consideration for certain applications.

Starter Motor Operation
When the engine is activated (via stop/start button or traditional key), an electrical signal is sent to the starter solenoid. This component transfers charge from the vehicle's battery to the starter motor, activating it along with the starter drive (Bendix gear system).
The electrical charge engages the vehicle's flywheel, and as the starter motor turns, it cranks the engine to initiate the combustion process in petrol and diesel vehicles. Once the engine is running properly, the mechanism disengages the starter motor from the gear and flywheel as the engine no longer requires the electrical spark.
