Manual starters are simple devices operated manually without requiring expert intervention. They feature a button or rotary knob that enables users to turn connected equipment on or off through mechanical linkages that open or close contacts.
Important safety note: Manual starters don't break control circuits during power loss, meaning motors could restart automatically when power returns.
When the engine is activated (via stop/start button or key), an electrical signal is sent to the starter solenoid, which transfers power from the battery to the starter motor. This activates the starter drive (Bendix gear system), engaging the flywheel.
The starter motor cranks the engine to initiate combustion. Once running, the mechanism disengages the starter from the flywheel as the engine becomes self-sustaining.
