Manual Starters
Manual starters are devices operated manually for simple motor control. These starters feature straightforward operation without requiring expert intervention. The starter includes a button or rotary knob that enables users to turn connected equipment on or off through mechanical linkages that open or close contacts.

Manual starters do not break control circuits during power loss, meaning motors could restart automatically when voltage is restored - a critical safety consideration in some applications.

Starter Motor Operation
When the engine is activated (via stop/start button or traditional key), an electrical signal is sent to the starter solenoid. This component directs power from the vehicle's battery to the starter motor, which activates the starter drive (Bendix gear system) to engage the flywheel.
As the starter motor turns, it cranks the engine to initiate combustion in petrol and diesel vehicles. Once the engine is running, the mechanism disengages the starter motor from the flywheel as the engine no longer requires the electrical spark.
